Photo Walk - To The Park

Do you enjoy walking?  I love to walk.  I could walk all day every day if time, and my feet would let me.  Even on a cloudy day, the sunshine and fresh air do my soul good.  I make it a point to go for at least one walk a day, sometimes two.

Earlier in the week I walked to a little park near the house. And, the first thing that caught my eye was the colors.  The deep reds and oranges.  A nice change from the yellow aspen trees.  I wish I had my camera.

Fast forward a few days.  I couldn’t make up my mind, go for a hike or a ride.  In the back and forth I got sidetracked with something else.  The next thing I knew it was lunchtime.  Annoyed at myself, I  remembered the colors at the park.  Threw on my shoes, grabbed my camera, and started walking.

If I would’ve planned a little better, I would’ve grabbed the film camera.  Since that was the case, I just had the Lumix G9.  I was going to put the 25 mm (50 mm full frame equivalent)  prime lens on but forgot.  The 14-42 mm it was.  I left the tripod and filters at home.

There was a perfect layer of thin clouds in the sky acting like a filter.  This was perfect given that it was around 1:00 by the time I got there.  There was just enough sunlight getting through the clouds to play on the trees.

A goal was of course to capture the great colors.  But, my main goal was to focus on compositions.  I tend to rush through my shots.  I feel like a lot of my photos of the fall foliage are a hot mess because I don’t really think about the composition.  I wanted to take my time and really think it through today.

I’m happy with the way these turned out.  The compositions were better, in my opinion.  Slowing down really helped.  I also like how the light on the trees and ground showed.  It’s gonna be hard for me, but I really need to slow down when I’m out with my camera.
